Breast Augmentation /Breast Enlargement with Implants
If you’re looking to re-contour your cleavage and add volume to your bust, breast implants are an ideal way of helping adjust the proportions of your body frame to give natural looking, beautiful results.
Every body is different, which is why we modify each of our breast augmentation procedures for each individual to ensure the best possible outcome and the safest procedure possible. When you meet with your Cosmedicare Consultant Plastic surgeon you will discuss a variety of issues regarding breast implants, including types, shapes, and sizes, as well as what you can expect before, during, and after the procedure. Your surgeon will address all of your concerns and, together, you will decide what’s best to achieve your goals.
During your consultation you will also receive a 3D Crisalix scan which allows you to see the difference various implants would make to your body before you make any decision in relation to size or shape. Many of our clients have commented on how this has enabled them to feel more confident in their choice prior to surgery.
With regards to the safety aspect of implants, the implants we use have proven to be a safe and effective cosmetic enhancement option that provides women with breasts that are fuller and more youthful in appearance. At Cosmedicare we use silicone cohesive gel implants from the Nagor and Motiva implant ranges – both FDA approved.
THE PROCEDURE
During your consultation your surgeon will speak with you about where your implant should be placed – beneath the chest muscle or directly beneath the breast tissue. Depending on your frame and current breast tissue area you will be advised on which option may be the best for you.
There are a variety of techniques our experienced Consultant Plastic Surgeons can use to perform breast augmentation. Implants can be placed via incisions made in the:
- Underside of the breast where it meets the chest (Inframammary)
- Areola area surrounding the dark-pigmented skin around the nipple (Periareolar)
Once the incision has been made a form of pocket is created to hold the implant. The implant is placed and the incisions are closed. Your surgeon will also discuss these options with you in relation to your body and what method will best achieve your desired outcome.
Breast augmentation surgery typically takes two hours or less to complete and is performed under general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia combined with a sedative. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis removing the need for an overnight stay in hospital.
RECOVERY
Following surgery patients can expect some pain and discomfort, this can be managed with medication. Minor bruising, swelling and a numb sensation will likely affect the breasts and nipples within the first few weeks after your procedure. Sutures are dissolving however our team schedule a post operative wound check for 5-7 days post surgery. You are usually able to return to normal routines within a few days to a week.
