Breast reduction surgery is an extremely rewarding procedure that can help both women and men to free themselves of the restricting and sometimes embarrassing effects of overly large breasts. Our breast reduction patients usually contact us when the problems associated with their large breasts become a hindrance that they can no longer tolerate in their daily lives.

Breast reduction surgery is designed to help alleviate a number of concerns related to having overly large breasts including:

  • Excessive sagging or drooping
  • Back, shoulder, and neck pain
  • Self-consciousness
  • Indentations and discomfort caused by the bra-strap
  • Inability to wear certain types of clothing

The aim of breast reduction surgery is to correct these,  and other issues, you may be experiencing due to breasts which are too large having an impact on your appearance, self-esteem and general comfort.

At the time of your initial consultation you will have an opportunity to discuss all aspects of breast reduction surgery and any specific concerns about your breasts with our experienced GMC Specialist Registered Consultant Plastic Surgeon. Depending on the size of your chest, you will also be given the opportunity to see the possible outcome of your procedure before deciding which option is best for you. .

Our state-of-the-art 3D Crisalix imaging technology allows our  surgeons to show you a computer-generated model incorporating a scan of your breast area and information compiled to form a graphic image of the likely results. This can then be adapted in real time to demonstrate how reducing your breasts by different volumes would look on your individual frame, allowing you to gain a visual of what is possible and how your end results may look. This is an excellent communication tool to allow you to accurately outline your desired outcomes to your surgeon prior to deciding to proceed with your operation.

For men who are affected by overly large breasts, male breast reduction surgery (medically known as gynecomastia), is also available. Our surgeons can provide effective breast reduction for men who are experiencing this common condition. For more information on this procedure, please visit the Gynaecomastia page of our site.
