Additional Chest Procedure

There are additional “top” procedures that can be performed in conjunction with chest reconstruction surgery to enhance your final results.

Introduction

Female-to-male (FTM) or female-to-neutrois (FTN) chest surgery is often the first, and sometimes only, FTM/N surgery many choose for their upper body transformation. However, there are additional “top” procedures that can be performed in conjunction with chest reconstruction surgery to enhance your final results.

Liposuction

Liposuction is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures. It is ideal for transmasculine people who wish to remove excess fat from the abdomen, flanks, hips and buttocks, which give the body a softer, more feminine appearance.

Liposuction is a very straightforward procedure that can usually be performed alongside FTM/N chest surgery. Under anaesthetic, very small incisions (around 4mm) near the target treatment sites are created. Our surgeons then insert a cannula (a thin suctioning tube) into these incisions. Using gentle back-and-forth motions, they will breakup and suction out excess fat.

Combining Multiple Procedures

It may be possible to combine multiple procedures into a single surgery. Our team will be able to determine if you are a good candidate following an in-person consultation. Many patients prefer to group multiple procedures into a single surgery because it’s generally the less expensive option. It also eliminates the need for multiple recovery periods.

It is important to note that combining multiple procedures may increase your risk of surgical complications. We will discuss these risks with you in-depth prior to your procedure. In certain circumstances, it may be safer to perform your FTM procedures in stages to decrease these risks.

Revision Chest Reconstruction Surgery

FTM/N chest surgery is a complicated procedure and there are no absolute guarantees. Though most patients only require a single surgery to achieve desired results, with any surgery there is a chance that you will need revision surgery following FTM/N chest surgery. Additional procedures may be necessary to correct chest asymmetry or a complication related to surgery.

If revision surgery is necessary, you will not be charged an additional surgeon’s fee for revisionary procedures – as long as they are within the scope of the original surgery, and as long is the revision is performed within one year of the original surgery. However, you may still be responsible for anesthesia and operating room costs if the surgeon believes the outcome to be of good aesthetic standard.
