Full Face Lift

A Facelift is one of the most common surgical procedures available to help you turn back the hands of time and improve an array of aesthetic issues in the face.

Whats Is a Facelift and How Can It Help?

A facelift, medically referred to as Rhytidectomy, is designed for patients who have excess skin elasticity, as well as strong bone structure.

Deep folds, wrinkles, and other signs of age can be significantly reduced by tightening underlying facial muscles and smoothing out the skin. A face lift also eliminates excess facial fat and tightens the skin, creating a more youthful appearance with results that look natural and refreshed.

How does the Procedure Work?

Traditional Facelift surgery typically involves incisions made above the hairline at the temples, extending to the front of the ear or inside the front cartilage and going behind the earlobe. Fat and skin is separated from the muscles, and the muscles are then tightened. Excess skin is removed, and the skin tightened to smooth out wrinkles and signs of ageing. The incisions are then closed. Exact times of face lift surgery will depend on the extent of the procedure; however, typical face lift surgeries take around two to three hours to complete. Face lift surgery is generally performed under general anesthesias and can be completed on an outpatient basis. For patients with more complex medical histories, or those combining procedures, an overnight stay in our Livingston hospital may be more appropriate to ensure you are fully supported during your immediate recovery phase.

What Training Do The Surgeons Undergo?

Our GMC Specialist Registered Consultant Plastic Surgeons , who are highly skilled and respected within their peer group, can help you look younger and refreshed and create long-lasting results.

Many of our team are specialty-trained in facial plastic surgery procedures and have been educated at some of the most respected medical institutions in the world – ensuring their abilities to help you attain your  goals of natural looking outcomes, with scaring so discreet, no one would ever know.

What Does Recovery Look Like After a Facelift?

Patients can expect some swelling and bruising after facelift surgery. These side effects will dissipate as the face continues to heal. The head will need to be elevated for a few days after surgery, and bandages will need to stay in place for a few days as well. Any residual discomfort from the procedure can be managed with medication. Scars from the procedure are typically barely visible and well-hidden within the hair or natural creases of the face and ears. Strenuous activity should be avoided for about two weeks after facelift. Patients can usually return to normal daily routines about 10 days after the procedure. The results of facelift should become apparent in the first few weeks after surgery however full results will not be visible until around 6 months post procedure.

Is a Facelift Right For Me?

Most patients who have facelift surgery are in their 40′s to 60′s; however, older patients and even those slightly younger can benefit from this procedure.

Those who need less significant facial rejuvenation may also benefit from effective alternatives to facelift surgery, such as a mini-facelift, or a variety of cosmetic injectable fillers that can provide more subtle results. Co2 Skin resurfacing is also an option for smoothing and tightening facial skin and balancing textures and pigmentation issues.
