What is the Mummy Makeover?

Becoming a Mum can be one of life’s greatest gifts however many women experience a variety of physical changes after having children that may be difficult to reverse with diet and exercise.

Mummy Makeover is a terminology used to describe combined procedures, most commonly Breast and Body, as these are the areas most commonly affected by pregnancy and weight fluctuations. We customise our Mummy Makeover procedures to your individual needs, using techniques that are proven safe and effective at restoring your body with natural-looking results.

Our experienced GMC Specialist Registered Consultant Plastic Surgeons, many of whom have been trained and educated at world-renowned medical institutions, can help you regenerate your breasts volume and shape, flatten your tummy, and remove excess fat from stubborn areas of your body.

The Procedure

Mummy makeover procedures typically involve a number of procedures, either performed together in one operation, or over a series of appointments. Mummy Makeover candidates typically include mothers who are experiencing:

  • Extra skin and fat in the breasts causing a sagging or drooping appearance
  • Excess fat and skin in the abdominal region
  • Stubborn fat deposits in virtually any area of the body
  • Areas of stretch marks

Liposuction

Liposuction eliminates stubborn fat pockets that have accumulated during or after pregnancy. These fat pockets can be removed from virtually anywhere on the body for a more contoured, fit aesthetic. Our experienced surgeons use advanced liposuction techniques that have proven safe and effective at eliminating excess fat and restoring your natural curves.

Breast Surgery

One of the most noticeable effects of pregnancy is droopiness and extra skin in the breasts. This can also become more pronounced after breast-feeding. A breast lift as part of a Mummy Makeover procedure addresses sagginess in the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the skin of the breast area, lifting the breasts to a higher position for a more youthful, “perky” appearance. Many women are unhappy with their breasts for one reason or another. However, an experienced surgeon can create a more youthful, voluptuous breast contour  by adding volume, removing excess skin, reshaping the breast and or adjusting the location of the nipple. If on the other hand you are considering reducing the size of your bust, a mammoplasty procedure, or breast reduction surgery, would be more appropriate.

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

An abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) targets the most obvious area of physical change in a new Mum: the stomach region. During pregnancy, the abdominal muscles are often pushed apart and stretched, making it extremely difficult to restore the mid-section to its pre-pregnancy appearance. A tummy tuck tightens the stomach muscles and pulls the remaining skin taut for a flatter, firmer appearance. Your stomach area tends to be particularly vulnerable to the effects of weight fluctuations, aging, and for woman, pregnancy, and often changes in firmness and elasticity as part of the ageing process.

It is not unusual for loose skin, weak muscles and excess fat in the abdominal and waist area to develop more easily than in other areas, and they simply cannot be eliminated as effectively with exercise, a healthy diet, and even pharmaceuticals or laser based skin firming treatments. To date, tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, is the only solution that can achieve the dramatic improvement you desire.

Labiaplasty

A labiaplasty can be performed under local anesthesia and involves reshaping the labia (lips) of the vagina. It is ideal for revising or improving anomalies or congenital conditions that include large or prolapsed inner labia (labia minora). Labiaplasty surgery can also be used to repair the genital area following disease or injury, especially those that occur during childbirth.

Our surgeons use dissolvable sutures, which are absorbed within a few weeks. The majority of patient’s gain the following: a labia that has a youthful appearance, less discomfort, and increased sexual satisfaction.

Recovery

Recovery from Mummy Makeover procedures will depend on the type and extent of the procedures undergone, as well as whether they were performed in tandem or over a period of months. Patients can typically expect anywhere from one to three weeks or more of recovery from the most invasive procedures, and a much shorter period for procedures such as injectable treatment.
